1000+ miles and counting...

Duct tape and quick ties make for an easy fix. 207000 miles and still
going. What a trooper.

I can usually average in the high 80's-90's for the first 4.5 miles on the way back home from work because it's mostly downhill. On the stop and go freeways, I'm still averaging about 54mpg.

I also discovered that it's not a great idea to clean the dash of the car with those microfiber dusting cloths under certain conditions. The static electricity generated was quite shocking, literally of course. That's another point for the Prius, but I was able to redeem myself by figuring out how to steam my iPhone 3G to my car's bluetooth, which only works by playing music on the phone while in a phone conversation. It's a good way to make those phone conversations dramatic.

Now back to some Prius talk, I filled up my tank for the first time yesterday as follows:

Total: $19.55 * $2.919/gal

Gallons: 6.698

Mileage on car: 585 miles til empty. Still averaging above 50mpgs at about 53.2 . This all varies on the commute, driving conditions, etc etc.

I filled up with a little less than half a tank left. Not bad at all.

When you try to do everything right, something usually goes wrong. I got another crack on the underside of the front bumper, and I locked myself out of my car at the gym. The keyless entry remote has to be with the key in order to open the door.

It's day 3 and I've been averaging 55.4mpg. I also joined the Priuschat.com forum!

Time for some house cleaning.

We're on our way to our first outdoor rock climbing session at MCSP. The car is holding up pretty well. I'm now one of those drivers that drive a little slower than you'd want. It's not my fault, I'm just trying to drive efficiently. So please don't cut me off.

2010 Prius

I finally got to pick up my Prius today, my first car purchase! The driving and handling is pretty solid, but the acceleration isn't all there in normal driving conditions. It does however, come with a "power mode" button that combines both the electric motor and gas engine to give you the added HP for more power and faster acceleration. All in all, I've been very pleased with the mpg. I've been averaging about 54.3mpg.

The day before I get my new car, my old trusty Honda decides to leak
coolant at the Fry's parking. It's a sign? I'm fixing it myself. It'd
just the radiator hose....?

I'll finally be able to use this on Saturday.

Off to pick up a temporary parking permit to park on the street in front of my house. I actually got a ticket once.

That's a pretty good hint. I probably have at least 10 of these around
the house. I should be putting them to good use.

Still taking the day to recover from the weekends Half Dome trip.

Back to the city life.

This is the first thing we did after returning from Yosemite.

We started this hike as soon as we reached Little Yosemite Valley. We parked in the trailhead parking lot and started at 2:30am. Without sleep, we made it to the base of the cables in about 5hr 30 mins. This was everyone's first time hiking in the dark.

It took us a total of about 13.5 hrs to finish the hike. One thing to remember is to bring good hiking shoes, plenty of water, and gloves that'll grip the smooth cables. Use good judgement when climbing the cables and follow/read all the safety precautions.

One of the best hikes so far. I can see why this is such a popular hike.

I'll visit you again.

My hiking group and I were on our way to Yosemite when my mom emails me.

"Congratulations! You got a new hybrid car. Dad drove 38 miles to pick it up". This is by far one of the biggest investments to date. There goes my savings, but I get to keep my old trusty Honda. I have over 200k miles on it and it's still going strong. The only major parts I've replaced in the 9 years of owning it was the radiator, water pump, and thermostat.

Getting all my gear ready for this weekend's trip to Yosemite's Half Dome.

Here's my gear checklist:

-Hiking backpack w/3L hydration pack.

-Headlamps/flashlight

-Gatorade

-Powerbars/snacks

-Trekking poles

-Sleeping bag

I think that's it.

Half dome training. It's a little off, but I'll take it. Running is my stress reliever. I wouldn't know what to do without it. No wonder the bottom of your shoes is called the sole. It's what keeps you going.

My cousin had asked me to take care of the gifts/envelopes at the guest table, but it didn't start off so smoothly.

Before the wedding had started, there was this guy that was looking for the receptionist because he had to go to another wedding. He asked me if I knew where Mike's cousin PC, the receptionist, was. I said sorry and that I had no idea. My friend said isn't that you? I said NO, and who's Mike?

After a few moments, I realized my cousins English name was Mike. That just goes to show how close I am to him.
